Along side the Award programme there are special projects that have been initiated to promote the    Ideals of the young people. Such projects include;

   EAYPI  ABY PROJECT
   SONA is currently receiving funding from PEPFAR through International Youth Foundation (IYF) to    implement the EAYPI-ABY project. The EAYPI-ABY (Empowering African Young People Initiative)    project promotes and advocates for Abstinence and Being Faithful among young people (ABY) aged    10-24 years. Among the older youths, the project under the USAID guidelines calls for Correct and    Consistent Condom use as preventive measures against HIV/AIDS.

   The project employs different approaches i.e. Peer education (one to one and group sessions), Enter    education activities (sports, Music, Dance and Drama and video shows) and Parent to Child    Communication (PTC) and youth mentoring outreaches in its implementation strategy. Through    these, SONA has been able to reach over 50,000 young people and adults with HIV/AIDS prevention    messages in the districts of Wakiso and Kampala (Rubaga division) in the last four years reaching    out to both in and out of school young people.

   Trainings are also conducted for peer educators, Trainers of trainees, and PTC community facilitators    to help disseminate messages on HIV/AIDS in the above approaches. So far 687 peer educators, 40    TOTs and 32 PTC facilitators have been trained in the two districts. EAYPI-ABY strives for Behavioral    Change among young people in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
